The Bishop of Kythera and Andikythera, Serafim and the Mayor of the islands, Theodoros Koukoulis are visiting Australia. The Kytherian Brotherhood of Sidney and President of The Kytherian Association, Victor Kipriotis, welcomed the arrival of the island’s spiritual leader to Australia, highlighting that the Kythera House, a cultural resource facility and meeting place, has turned into one of Sydney’s finest community Hellenic libraries.
Bishop Serafim expressed his delight for the opportunity given to him to visit Australia and the Kytherians of Diaspora and thanked Georgios Hatziplis who organized this visit.
Kytherian visitors went to Canberra, where they celebrated Oxi Day together with the Greek-Australians on Oct. 28. Their program included visits in Brisbane, Gosford and Melbourne.
Seraphim was consecrated a Bishop in 2005 in a service conducted by then Archbishop Christodoulos of Athens at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Athens. He was then enthroned as Metropoliti of Kythera and Antikythera on July 30, 2005.
